2024

YEAR OF REFLECTION

2024 marks a pivotal year for ROBERTSONKUR, a year dedicated to the meticulous crafting of the Peony Collection—the first major collection to emerge from the studio. This period has been one of deep reflection, allowing founder Kurt Robertson to reconnect with the core of his artistic vision and draw inspiration from years of experience and creativity. The Peony Collection represents not just a series of artworks, but a culmination of passion, patience, and precision. As each piece takes shape, this year has become a time to cultivate a transcendent exhibit, one that not only showcases the beauty of the natural world but also reflects the journey of ROBERTSONKUR. 2023

YEAR OF EXPANSION

In 2023, ROBERTSONKUR embarked on a profound journey of spiritual growth and global expansion. This year was marked by an intense deepening of Kurt Robertson's relationship with Christ, which became a guiding force in both his personal and creative life. ROBERTSONKUR also solidified its presence on the international stage, culminating in an extensive project in South Africa. Working in the breathtaking mountains of the Western Cape, Kurt applied his architectural and interior design skills to initiate a stunning estate that transformed the design trends of the region. In collaboration with artisan glassblower David Reed in Worcester, SA, Kurt created one of the most transcendent glass installations of his career. This project not only expanded his artistic repertoire but also allowed him to weave spiritual and creative elements into a singular, impactful expression of faith and artistry. 2023 was a year where boundaries were pushed, skills were honed, and the foundation for future innovation was laid.

2022

YEAR OF DESIGN

2022 marked the beginning of an international journey for ROBERTSONKUR, setting the stage for a significant project in South Africa. This year was defined by a deep dive into the world of interior design, as Kurt Robertson embarked on a large-scale project for a private estate in the breathtaking landscapes of South Africa. It was a year of creative challenges and expansive vision, where design became the bridge between continents, blending the essence of South African beauty with the unique artistry of ROBERTSONKUR. This project not only expanded the studio's reach but also set the tone for the transformative work that would follow.

2021

YEAR OF MILESTONES

2021 was a landmark year for ROBERTSONKUR, marking the creation of two significant artworks that would continue to shape the future of the studio. It was the year that saw the birth of the "LEONIE PEONY" and the "JACKSON KUR," two masterpieces that captured the attention of a very special client and became the cornerstone of their exclusive His and Hers collection. These artworks not only represented the pinnacle of Kurt Robertson's artistic expression but also sparked the imagination for what would come next. The success of these pieces laid the groundwork for the Native Collection, which will follow the Peony Collection, further expanding the studio's creative horizons. This year was a pivotal moment in the evolution of ROBERTSONKUR, setting the stage for future innovations and artistic explorations.

2020

YEAR OF TIKTOK

2020 was a year that pushed the world to its limits, as the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges and isolation. But in the midst of devastation, Kurt Robertson decided to "just keep swimming." This year became a turning point, where, despite the uncertainty, he found his voice, and ROBERTSONKUR began to find its footing on a global stage. Through the power of TikTok, what started as a humble endeavor grew into something much larger. As Kurt shared his artistic journey with the world, the attention and recognition of ROBERTSONKUR's art and the construction of its studio began to take shape. Over the following years, this momentum activated the social media stage, setting the foundation for global expansion and reaching audiences far and wide. 2020, though filled with challenges, became the catalyst for a new era of creativity and connection for ROBERTSONKUR.

2019

YEAR OR THE PORTRAIT

2019 was a year rich with travel and adventure, taking Kurt Robertson from the snowy peaks of Mount Kosciuszko to the vast, sun-soaked plains of the Australian countryside and the rugged mountain ranges of the Flinders. It was a time of discovery and connection, filled with family outings and adventures with mates, all while being deeply immersed in the natural beauty of the Australian land that Kurt holds dear. This love for the land fueled his creativity and inspired new directions in his art.

It was also a year of significant artistic achievements, as Kurt completed his first self portrait and took the bold step of entering the Archibald Prize, one of Australia’s most prestigious art awards for portraiture. 2019 marked the beginning of a new chapter in both life and art, blending the thrill of exploration with the deep satisfaction of creative expression.

2018

YEAR OF STILLNESS

2018 was a relatively quiet year for Kurt Robertson and ROBERTSONKUR, a time where outward activity slowed, but the inner workings of creativity were anything but still. In the stillness, ideas and visions simmered, waiting for the right moment to burst to life. 2017

THE YEAR OF THE PEONY

2017 was, without a doubt, the most significant year of Kurt Robertson’s life and the true beginning of ROBERTSONKUR. It was the unexpected arrival of the first Peony, a moment that would forever change the course of his journey. This defining artwork, created almost by chance, would later resonate deeply with a very special client and set the tone for the future of ROBERTSONKUR. Though Kurt never planned on becoming an artist, this year marked the start of a passionate love affair with creativity that would shape his destiny. The Peony became more than just a painting—it became the essence of ROBERTSONKUR, a symbol of the unexpected beauty that can emerge when you follow where life leads. What began as a serendipitous creation would go on to define the artistic vision and legacy of the studio for years to come.

2016-2011

LAYING FOUNDATIONS

The years from 2011 to 2016 were a time of boundless imagination and the nurturing of impossible ideas for Kurt Robertson. During these formative years, ROBERTSONKUR was quietly taking shape as Kurt honed his skills in interior design and embarked on adventures that took him from snowy mountain peaks to the wild landscapes he loved. His passion for the natural world and its creatures led him to train at Taronga Zoo, where he worked closely with exotic animals from around the globe. Simultaneously, Kurt pursued his education, graduating with a degree in interior design, a field that would later intertwine with his artistic journey.

These years were the beginning stages of a journey that, though Kurt didn’t know it at the time, would lay the foundation for ROBERTSONKUR and shape his life’s work.
