PRIVATE COMMISSIONS

Private commissions are undertaken on a limited basis each year.

Each major work is conceived in direct consultation and developed for a defined architectural environment. The studio does not produce variations of existing compositions; every commission is resolved as an independent work aligned with the broader direction of the ROBERTSONKUR collection.

Commissions are placed within private residences and commercial environments locally and internationally.

Crafting process

Every commission begins with an understanding of the environment and the collector. Spatial context, scale, light, and surrounding materials are considered before composition begins. Works are not designed for display alone, but for integration within an environment.

Initial studies are prepared within the studio to establish direction and proportion. From there, the work is developed steadily and by hand, refined until its scale, balance, and presence feel resolved. Once complete, the work is prepared and delivered for placement within its intended environment.

Materials

All works are developed within the ROBERTSONKUR studio. Where a project requires specialised processes, the studio collaborates with selected artisans locally or internationally, ensuring continuity of material integrity and direction.

Materials are chosen for structural longevity and permanence. Painting, glass, timber, and sculptural elements are resolved through disciplined studio practice and measured surface development. Completed commissions are formally documented and recorded within the studio archive as part of the evolving collection history.

LINEN

Belgian linen forms the structural foundation of each canvas work developed within the ROBERTSONKUR studio. Selected for its stability, surface tension, and archival longevity, the linen provides a disciplined ground upon which each composition is resolved. Each canvas is stretched and prepared by skilled craftsmen in Sydney, ensuring consistency of construction and material integrity. The material is chosen not for aesthetic effect, but for permanence.

Construction

The structural frame underpins the longevity of the work. Timber is selected for strength and dimensional stability, then constructed by experienced craftsmen to support the integrity of the linen and surface over time. Each frame is engineered to maintain structural balance and tension across decades. This disciplined construction ensures the work retains its presence within its environment.

In house certification

authentication

Each artwork developed within the ROBERTSONKUR studio is accompanied by formal in-house documentation confirming authenticity and provenance. Authentication is recorded as part of the studio archive, establishing a permanent reference for the work within the evolving collection history.

This documentation affirms the work’s origin, material integrity, and place within the broader direction of the studio.
