Standing Alone
|
Standing Alone marks a pivotal and quietly transformative moment in the early history of ROBERTSONKUR. It was the first artwork acquired by a collector without prior connection, introduction, or direct knowledge of the artist. The acquisition occurred entirely independently, without personal contact or in-person viewing of the work. This moment held particular significance within the studio’s early development, confirming that the work had begun to exist beyond its immediate circle. It demonstrated that the visual language of ROBERTSONKUR could reach and resonate with a collector entirely on its own terms, without mediation or context. Unlike earlier placements that emerged through known networks or proximity, Standing Alone represented a shift into the unknown, where the artwork travelled first, and the artist remained unseen. In this way, the piece carries both literal and symbolic weight within the archive. Within the ROBERTSONKUR story, Standing Alone is remembered as an early proof of independence in the work’s reception. It signalled that the practice had begun to extend outward into a wider world, where connection could form purely through the presence of the artwork itself. |
